What can I use in the private preview?

The private administrator preview includes tenant and site management, private content catalogs, fixed Windows 11 Pro deployment profiles, site-bound appliance enrollment, configuration and content caching, events, and on-demand logs.

Physical PXE boot, WinPE execution, Windows imaging, driver injection, application installation, and deployment quality checks are still in development. The interactive tour uses illustrative data and presents the management experience.

How does Collective work at each site?

An Ubuntu appliance runs at the site. After enrollment with a short-lived, one-time key, it uses its own credential to initiate outbound HTTPS requests, synchronize configuration, and maintain a verified local content cache.

What happens if the cloud connection drops?

The appliance retains its last completely synchronized configuration and verified content cache. Supported events queue locally for later delivery. Offline endpoint imaging depends on the future imaging executor and is not available in the current preview.

Is an agent installed on every Windows device?

No permanent Windows endpoint agent is intended. The persistent agent runs on the Ubuntu site appliance. Future deployment execution is designed around temporary WinPE and PowerShell stages.

What’s next for the platform?

The next major milestone is physical Windows deployment: PXE and WinPE boot, Windows apply, driver injection, application installation, and quality checks. Later direction includes Microsoft Entra SSO, Autopilot integration, vendor driver acquisition, and factory capture and restore.

These are development priorities, not committed release dates. Public signup and Microsoft sign-in are not available in the current preview.
